Happy New Year! Introducing: "Dr. Anthony's... Director's Reflections"

Scholars,

Remember when I said that your success will always be at the forefront of our thoughts and actions?  Well, I'm not the only one.  Many of you already know Dr. Michael Anthony well but did you know that he has been named the new director of our Center.....offically?  If you didn't,..now you know.  =)

I can tell you that he will definitely be bringing a regular dose of  energy and  excitement to the Center as well as to all of you and your organizations.  In an effort to continue communicating with you through a variety of platforms, I have invited him to be a guest writer on our blog.  We piloted this blog in November and many of you took the time to visit.  THANK YOU!  As a result, I plan to pour some massive action behind this platform this semester and invite others to blog on specific areas that pertain to a number of subjects and interests in which you as college students may be interested.

The message that follows will be our first guest blog.  You may have already seen this but I wanted to submit anyway.  Much love to you and many thoughts of positivity, strength, purposeful productivity I send your way each and every day.  Please take the time to comment if you wish.

====================

Happy New Year everyone! Each week during the spring semester I will be sending out Director's Reflections, which will serve as an additional way for me to reach out to you and provide advice, thoughts, and direction as it relates to your life as a busy student. I promise to keep these brief, and in return I ask that you read them and spread the word to others you may work with or see on a daily basis.

1. Director Office Hours - I have established office hours for the spring 2011 semester starting the week of January 17th . Please drop in anytime during these hours to chat, catch up, receive personal coaching, or otherwise from me. If you need to set up a time outside of these hours, please contact Darla Frazier at darla.frazier@louisville.edu. I hope to see you on Tuesdays between 10:00am - 12:00pm and/or Wednesdays between 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

2. What is your academic goal for the semester? I would love to personally hear about how you plan to take one more step towards graduation. You can expect the staff to ask you about your GPA and academic goals when they see you. If you are a student leader, we are monitoring your GPA closely to make sure you are staying focused on what's really important...graduation! We will be in touch with those of you who served in positions last semester.

3. Get Your Members Registered for OrgSync! If you still have members not using this system, that needs to change. Future funding and other support from the Cultural Center will be contingent on your active use of this system. Weekly trainings on how to better utilize OrgSync to manage your organizations and personal life are coming up, so be on the lookout.

4. Finally, use this last week of break to PLAN. Plan your work schedule; Plan your study schedule; Plan your organizational meetings; Plan your programs; and Plan for upcoming elections. NOW is the time to get ready for all that the semester has to bring.

As always, we are all here to serve you and improve your academic and personal success. Let us know how we can better serve you throughout the semester.

Sincerely,
Dr. Michael D. Anthony
